Sometimes the hardest challenge we face is to get up when the alarm goes off in the morning without hitting the snooze button. Sometimes we face more challenging events: unexpected pregnancy, premature death of a close friend or relative, or a debilitating accident or illness. It doesn't matter how big or small the problems we each face, the fact remains that we all have our own struggles to survive.

Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to have a "normal" life. What is it like to actually live the American Dream? Do people really exist who are always employed, aren't in deep debt, have healthy relationships with everyone in their life, and never get sick or injured?

What is "Normal" anyway?  Is it average?  Is it without problems? Does it mean that you don't have to wrack your brain for solutions to problems on a daily basis?

Is "Normal" dependent upon one's culture?  Is "Normal" different in the UK than it is in the United States of America?  What about in Africa?  What does normal mean to someone on the Ivory Coast?

I guess my point is that there really is no "Normal."  There is Real Life, and there is In A Perfect World. And, we all know that A Perfect World does not exist.

This blog is about my own struggles to survive modern day life. And, I am FAR from normal. So, if you want to read along with someone who is less than perfect, has daily issues with the meaning of life, the universe, and everything, then you are in the right place. I will take you on a journey of laughter, tears, anger, and petty judgement. Because, Yeah. I am NOT Normal, nor am I perfect. Welcome to the World According to Sharon. It will not be politically correct, and I refuse to pull my punches, or my language, for politeness's sake.
